Jojoba oil moisturizers are better for your skin, moisturize well and don’t risk your skin health.

Jojoba oil is a natural oil used in the best jojoba moisturizers. There are a number of uses of jojoba oil, including in skin care products, and we are going to answer some readers questions about using jojoba oil as a moisturizer.

If you’ve read this website before you will know that we attempt to highlight the use of unnatural chemicals and irritating substances such as petrochemicals in so many of the mainstream skin care products, health products and cosmetics that are so commonly in use today.

And we also seek to tell you about natural alternatives that work as effectively, and often more effectively, then their chemical alternatives. Jojoba oil moisturizers are a fine example of high quality natural anti aging products that use safe natural ingredients.

So let’s see why the oil from the seed of the jojoba plant is good for your skin and is safe when used as an ingredient in skin care products.

Unfortunately, as we have highlighted before, many anti ageing products use petrochemical ingredients to moisturize. We have written recently about the risks of petrolatum (a petrochemical oil) used in many skin care products, and have also explained that petrolatum does nothing to moisturize your skin other than to coat it in oil.Jojoba Moisturizers

And there are other examples of petrochemical and chemical ingredients used in skin care products, including moisturisers, that do not actively moisturize and which may put your skin and your health at risk. These ingredients are used because they are extremely cheap.

There are many excellent natural ingredients which can be used in top shelf natural skin care products which are known for their excellent moisturizing properties, which are entirely safe to use on your skin and many of which have been used as a food for centuries. Olive oil is a good example.

Jojoba oil is another example of a natural oil which is safe to use on your skin and has excellent moisturising properties.

The oil is chemically extremely similar to the oil produced in human skin, called sebum, which is produced in the sebaceous glands. In fact technically the oil is more a liquid wax then an oil. It has been shown to be beneficial in treating acne, also has healing properties against other skin diseases like psoriasis and eczema and also has excellent skin moisturizing properties.

Unlike many of the chemical and petrochemical ingredients used in regular moisturizers it is able to penetrate the skin very effectively and it’s use does not result in a film of oil being left on the surface of the skin and face.

It does not create skin irritation or allergies because it’s chemical make up is so similar to the makeup of sebum. It actually helps balance the skin’s production of sebum which means that it is perfect for those with oily skin, helping reduce the production of oil.

It helps reduce wrinkles and stretchmarks.
Jojoba Moisturizers

And also unlike many regular moisturizers it does not block the pores, which is also good news for acne sufferers. In fact it helps clean the pores.

Because it has such beneficial effects it is used in a range of products including soaps and hair conditioners as well as lip balms. A few drops of jojoba oil very effectively helps remove eye makeup.

So why would you use regular moisturizers when jojoba oil does the job better? That’s a good question, however so many women still choose to use mainstream moisturisers containing the chemical and petrochemical ingredients.

If jojoba oil is so good at moisturizing then why not just use it on its own each day? Well of course you can however is always better to use skin care products which contain jojoba oil as an ingredient but also contain a range of other natural oils including olive oil and Shea butter, all of which have their own slightly different moisturizing properties.

Combine a range of such ingredients into high quality natural skin care products and you have the recipe for an outstandingly effective (and safe) range of skin care products. Jojoba oil moisturizers which combine a range of such natural ingredients are very effective.

The best jojoba moisturiser is not a moisturiser. That is because the company that makes what we consider to be the best natural skin care products available offer a range of products all of which moisturize very effectively and which use many such natural ingredients together. Because all the products moisturize effectively there is no need for a dedicated moisturiser. Read the rest of this entry

If you’re interested in great skin care find out about Shea Butter. Skin health can be improved using it.

Today we want to look at Shea Butter, and examine what it is, what it does for your skin and why you should be using skin care products containing it. Skin just loves Shea Butter.

African Shea Butter is a natural product that comes from the seed of the Shea tree which is found the warmer more tropical regions of West Africa. Pure Shea Butter comes from the nut of the tree and is extracted by the locals for a range of reasons. It is a rich, safe natural product that is used for, amongst other things, cooking and eating. However it’s benefits extend well beyond its use as a food, and include some important skin healing properties.

Unrefined Shea Butter, or pure Shea Butter, is the product that is obtained when originally extracted from the nut however it is also possible to get refined Shea Butter. In some cases the refining process is achieved by means of various chemicals.

There is a range of benefits from the use of Shea Butter, benefits to both the skin and for other uses, so today we will look at the uses of Shea Butter on the skin to improve skin health, and even to heal some skin conditions.
Shea Butter Skin

It is packed with a range of nutrients including vitamins such as vitamin E and vitamin A as well as a range of essential fatty acids. For many years the benefits of Shea Butter for dry skin relief and skin beauty, and also the use of Shea butter on oily skin, have been recognized. The essential fatty acids penetrate the skin to hydrate it very effectively and for this reason it is an excellent natural moisturizing butter.

It helps heal skin blemishes and rashes and can also reduce itchiness of the skin for those who suffer from dry skin.

In fact it’s natural oils are extremely similar to the oils produced by the skin. For this reason it penetrates skin to hydrate it deeply, it relieves dryness and helps improve skin moisture levels. It does not clog the pores as is the case with the ingredients of many mainstream moisturizers. For example mineral oil is used in many moisturizers and mineral oil clogs the pores.

It’s one of the best things you can do for skin with depleted moisture problems.

It’s lush moisturizing properties means that wrinkles are reduced and skin elasticity, one of the most important components of good skin health, including the reduction of wrinkles, is improved dramatically.

It is often used in products designed to reduce stretchmarks after pregnancy because of its ability to soften the skin and increase elasticity. The benefits of Shea Butter to the skin extend to more than just moisturizing.

Studies have shown that the use of Shea Butter creams can result in visible skin improvements within 4 to 6 weeks.

However as previously mentioned many products use refined Shea Butter. And the refining process can often involve chemicals. The best skin care products use Shea Butter that is extracted and processed by cold pressing rather than the use of chemicals to ensure that there are no health risks from residual chemicals.

If you select the right skin care products you will find that they work very well to give skin a subtle allure, that ensures your skin beams with healthy radiance. Read the rest of this entry

What is the precautionary principle and why are the best anti aging products paraben free?

It’s a bit of a controversy. Parabens in anti aging products and cosmetics. Parabens are found in a wide range of cosmetics and anti aging products such as moisturizers, so if you’re looking for the best anti aging moisturizer, should you avoid parabens and search for paraben free alternatives?

If you’re new to the debate about parabens here’s the rub. They are a class of chemical that are used in many products, including some foods, cosmetics and skin care products such as anti aging creams and moisturizers and some consider them to be dangerous.

They work very efficiently as preservatives however there is a raging debate about their safety.

As we said parabens are a class of chemical, there is actually quite a few that are used in these products. If you see these names or similar names listed on the label of any of your personal products then they are parabens. Methylparaben, Ethylparaben and Propylparaben are just some of the more commonly used parabens in our personal products.

The big question is are they safe for people to use? It is well known that once a product containing one of the parabens commonly used is applied to the skin then that particular chemical is absorbed through the skin very fast and can be detected in the blood stream within a relatively short period of time, hours in fact. They don’t just remain on the surface of the skin, they penetrate your body and are found in your blood.
paraben free anti aging products

One of the major reasons that they are found in so many personal products is that they are extremely cheap. There are other preservatives available which are effective as preservatives but are much more expensive, in many cases these more expensive alternatives are safe to use but are not used because of the price.

So where does the controversy come from? Why is it that so many people searching for the best anti aging products avoid any skin care products that have parabens listed on the label? It’s because there are serious concerns over the safety of parabens in our anti aging and skin care products and cosmetics. Whilst there is no clear proof one way or the other about whether these chemicals are safe to use there is certainly some questions raised.

For example there are studies that link parabens to breast cancer.

One such study found parabens in 18 out of 20 breast cancer tissue samples tested. Whilst of course this doesn’t actually prove that these chemicals cause breast cancer it is certainly something that causes you to sit up and take notice.

Secondly it is also generally accepted that parabens can mimic the actions of the female hormone called estrogen. This too has not been fully proven to be dangerous however is also worrying.

If you visit the Cosmetic Safety Database you will see that Butyl Paraben, for example, is linked, according to them, to cancer, allergies and immunotoxicity, neurotoxicity and endocrine disruption and biochemical and cellular level changes.

Of course being linked to these things doesn’t actually prove the the link, it just means that there are links, such as the study that found parabens in 18 our of 20 breast cancer samples.

There is something called the precautionary principle. This basically says that, in situations like these, where there is a risk to public health, there should be a presumption that the risk exists and those seeking to use the chemicals should prove that there is no risk before the chemical is used, rather than those who are at risk being forced to disprove the risk before use of the chemical is discontinued.

There are many calls for the discontinuance of parabens in all our personal products until they are proven to be safe. If they are continued to be used until proven unsafe it may be too late for some.

If you’re looking for the best anti aging moisturizers or other anti aging creams and products the decision about whether or not they should contain parabens is yours. There is no clear proof either way, however we personally prefer to avoid anything that is linked to health risks until it is clearly proven safe. Paraben free anti aging products, including the best anti aging products in the world, don’t have any risks of chemical preservatives because those chemical preservatives aren’t used at all.

The best anti aging products are all paraben free and also free from a wide range of other chemical and petrochemical ingredients, many of which are commonly found in so many of our personal products such as cosmetics and skin care products.

The company that makes the worlds best anti aging products has a total philosophy about the use of chemicals in it’s products. It refuses to use any chemical ingredients that have question marks over their safety and formulates products using natural ingredients that are known to be safe and are actually more effective than the chemical alternatives as well.

This company told it’s researchers to formulate its anti aging products using ingredients that were all known to be safe enough to eat. This is a total philosophy about product safety and they have the same commitment to product quality. Read the rest of this entry
